Cleanse

Today whitney and I decided to start a juice "Cleanse"

I've done one of these before, and I wasnt all that impressed with the experience.  I wasnt disappointed though either.  It was a spontaneous decision that i think ultimately was good for me, and at the very least, it helped me keep my calories down for a few days.

So when Whitney said she wanted to do a cleanse this weekend I pretty much said "aw what the heck" and went in on it with her.  I figured it would be easier for both of us to do it together, and maybe this would kickstart my motivation like it did last time, inspiring a boost of willpower that resulted in about a month with no carbs.

So we picked up our juices today and started the cleanse on the boat this morning.  the first one you drink is "the black lemonade" and its pretty tasty, if you like lemonade.  Then when we got to work we cracked into a smoothy type juice that was DELICIOUS!  this brought me up to about 10 am.  Thats the tim things started goingn downhill.  The next three juices were not quite so tasty.  you could really taste how healthy they were if you know what i mean.

around 4pm i had the "zest" juice which i thought was good, it was basically grapefruit juice.  then later in the evening i had my "dinner" juice which was a chocolate almond mylk.  VERY tasty and was able to keep me from being too hungry.

My experience today was honestly just short of agony though.  starting the diet on a friday meant having to say no to pub lunches and happy hours, which are just a couple of my favorite things!  That being said, the real reason I am doing this is as an exercise in willpower.  I dont really buy in to the "detox" thing, i just didnt see enough "results" from the last one to convince me, but at the very least, it is three days i can completely resist temptation.

I didnt LIKE passing up all the opportunities to consume delicious food and drink, but i am happy i made it.  its the end of the night now, and i've stuck with it.  tomorrow is day two, hopefully will be a bit easier with less temptation, but we'll see!
